Hudan is a panchayat in the Pangi Valley, situated at an elevation of approximately 3000 to 3500 meters above sea level. It is a remarkably beautiful and captivating area surrounded by lofty mountains on both sides. During the summer season, the beauty of this region becomes awe-inspiring, leaving a lasting impression.
Hudan is located about 10-15 km east of Killar. Accessible by a gravel road, efforts are underway to improve and pave the road. If you are planning to explore Pangi, Hudan is a crucial destination. The main attraction here is Bheem Tal, a lake resembling the shape of a foot when viewed from above. It is surrounded by lush green meadows adorned with various types of beautiful flowers. The lake is encompassed by tall, majestic hills on all sides.
Your journey to this place begins from Killar. You can either use your vehicle or hire a private taxi from Killar, and there is also an option for HRTC bus service to this destination. As you ascend from Killar, the scenery becomes increasingly picturesque, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains. The road will lead you to Hudan, where you can visit the monastery and explore the Bhatoris.
Bhatoris are villages located at high altitudes where people practicing the Buddhist faith reside. The locals are known for their warmth and hospitality. After exploring Bhatori, your scenic journey continues with a one-kilometer trek leading to Bheem Tal. Shinkul Dhar elevation 4000-4500 meters is a religious site where there is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The idols of Shiva and Parvati here are naturally formed on stone. Shinkul Dhar can be reached by trekking approximately 5-7 km from Bhim Tal. The trail is not very difficult, taking you through lush green meadows alongside a small river. At certain points, you may need to climb a bit, and there are small streams to cross, adding excitement to the journey.
During the summer, local residents bring their livestock here for grazing, known locally as "Adhvari," including sheep, goats, cows, chure and more.If you plan, Be sure to carry your own food and drinks as there are no shops along the way. Continuing the trek, it may take around 2-3 hours to reach the temple. Upon arrival, you'll feel surrounded by towering, majestic mountains. From here, you can also see the prominent religious site, Shiv Shankh Parvat.
