Roads to Pangi.
During winters, two main routes are prioritized: Manali through Atal Tunnel towards Lahaul region to Pangi, one from and the other from Kishtwar to Pangi. The accessibility of these routes depends on weather conditions. Traveling during heavy snowfall is not advisable as it poses significant risks, whether by car or foot. Glaciers frequently fall in these areas, creating hazardous situations.
Before heading to Pangi in winter, it's essential to check the weather forecast and gather information about the routes. Sudden closures due to glaciers are common, and waiting for the roads to reopen can be challenging in extreme cold. Prepare yourself with warm clothing and carry enough food and water, as road closures are frequent, and waiting is inevitable.
