How To Reach Pangi during winters.

In winters, life here becomes a bit challenging, but its great if proper preparations and arrangements are made. All around, there is a thick blanket of white snow; trees shed their leaves, covering the snow. Only cedar trees are visible in the name of greenery. The entire valley seems frozen, but for survival, human struggle continues. Government departments don't cease their work, even if there is minimal human activity.

Nature, in its form, looks beautiful. Tourists are scarce in winter, but those who come carry numerous experiences and memories with them. Snowfall temporarily blocks roads, but it's not as challenging as it used to be when people had to clear paths on their own. Modernization has brought large machines like JCB, making road clearance faster and travel more convenient.

Roads to Pangi.

During winters, two main routes are prioritized:  Manali through Atal Tunnel towards Lahaul region to Pangi, one from and the other from Kishtwar to Pangi. The accessibility of these routes depends on weather conditions. Traveling during heavy snowfall is not advisable as it poses significant risks, whether by car or foot. Glaciers frequently fall in these areas, creating hazardous situations.

Before heading to Pangi in winter, it's essential to check the weather forecast and gather information about the routes. Sudden closures due to glaciers are common, and waiting for the roads to reopen can be challenging in extreme cold. Prepare yourself with warm clothing and carry enough food and water, as road closures are frequent, and waiting is inevitable.

If driving, ensure your vehicle is equipped for snow, with chains and a 4x4 system. Shared taxis from Chamba, Kullu, and Gulabgarh are also available as an alternative. This extreme adventure is for those who enjoy challenges and are ready to face them. The journey is thrilling, and amidst the beautiful valleys, you can find joy in the midst of difficulties.
